The other benefit of them is they eat the ants that seems to find their way indoors as soon as there is any sweet things around.

Besides, if it is hygene that is bothering you, consider the fact that you have tiny, microscopic mites that live in your eyebrows. They eat dead skin, and as near as I can tell, they must poop on your face. Oh well.

That should be cikcak, which is Malay (not to be confused with the Czech word for zigzag).

Quite a sight to see them gobble down a mosquito.
Makes you appreciate them even more.

Oh my god that a VERY interting topic... alloe me to tell am the one with a huge records list of killing lizards in all possible ways.. you imagine it or not... Am scared like hell from lizard, i freak out , it scared the hell out of me.. one time i was in my room in malaysia i got my playstation back from my friend it was in a bag as i open the hppily took it out and now comes the turn to take the cables and controller guess what a small black lezard jumped out... oh la la la la la la, a nightmare apocalypse never seen before i jumped away with a big shout on my bed and my gf was at that time revising for exam i scared her with my action... i end up hiding behind her looool though am a Pro martial artist but there are things that make freak out... in malaysia they are alot of them as well some of the ways i kill the lizards:

- with slipper (basic)
- with insecticide pif paf (basic)
- smatch the hell out of them when they hide behind frame I press the frame till the go flat with the wall (Mortal)
- that one was running like crazy so i used insecticide+water at the same time me and my friend somemore to handle it.. man that lizards has become like a status in a sec.. maybe the combination lead to a certain mortal chemical substance (torture)
- pour hot water on them" thats my nuke weapon" (torture) but i stoped because a friend told me its a sin to kill a soul with fire(as in anything hot) Only god does it. so i stopped lor

Anyways whenever i see a lezard i dun dare walking on their direction i change the way even if its longer i prefer that because my reflex(quick reaction) can make funny views heehee

eww eating from your finger consider me dead if i was you

camelia - those that goes out at night back home we call them satan, they ain't normal ones believe me somehow called "Jin"

I got stories behind them.. i'll leave a room for others to write now will tell tomorrow

You might want to reconsider you move back to SE Asia then. Lizards are everywhere. Even on the 50th floor of high rise building you will find chit-chats. If you are on ground level you will get mini-dinosaurs and if you go to the beach you might even see monitor lizards.

Down town you can also find other species of lizards as well, primarily the BUAYA and it's closely related cousin the Lounge Lizard.

and a little bit of advice should you choose to ignore the collective wisdom expoused here and go after them,

Geckos and cikcaks when threatened, are liable to shed their tails, tails that will continue to wriggle independently and attack you while their former owners make a quick getaway.

You would be strongly advised to quickly cup your ears, less the wrigglers make their way into one of them and kill ya. The wise old grannies had warned us many times and many years ago so ignore this at your peril. 8-[

Yes, several times, but that was in my younger days.
With all the vector controls in place, there's much less opportunity to see this occur now..
If you're lucky (and patient enough), you might see one catch a slow moving fly.

my wife's in singapore and she hates having to deal with lizards.

this is what she suggestions: she believes they are territorial. you won't see many all around at the same place.

she uses sticky fly paper and blue-tack. it does work. if you have a major problem, spread more sheets around areas you see them at.

after a while, your gecko count should reduce, but it's not psosible to eradicate them entirely.

just always have sticky paper handy. or else make the husband drive out at 10pm in the middle of a tv show to buy a pack.

god knows i did... and no, you can never find them at that time. sticky paper can be bought at your neighborhood sundry shops.

the ones that sell bric-a-brac... towels, tubberware, bamboo poles, pots, pans, soaps, rain caots. i don't know what you call those...

but you know what i mean!
