I think you are interpreting the word like too narrowly. It can also be used to assign your prediction for who might win in a race. At the Kentucky Derby, one might say, 'I like The Bees Knees in the 5th'.

McCain is only 2 years older than Reagan was when he was elected. Reagan was I believe 69 and served 8 years. But he is a scary thought regarding the international stage though.

I believe Reagan was just marginally better than GWB. I am not saying anything against McCain, I am glad he will be the Republican candidate, at least the elections will be free of the nastiness that characterised the last farce and I hope he would think twice before blustering about invasions

Actually, in real life, Reagan was much better than GWB. I take text books with a grain of salt - read a Japanese one to see what I mean. I would tend to put more stock in having lived through the terms of every president since Harry S. Truman. But that's only the personal opinion of an American living under those president's an not reading textbooks in a foreign country.

It will be a mammoth task to undo the damage that the Republicans have wreaked at this stage, so having a Republican as the next President would only spell another disaster that the US really cannot afford given the current trade deficit and economic crisis ahead.

McCain is so full of bs given his recent speech of making empty promises of tax cuts. HTF is he going to manage that given the above conditions and with contined funding of a seemingly neverending war?

USA as the first (at least visible to the whole world) with elections concetrating much more on the person than the content, the world soon followed, even in my homecountry it's now all about the look and feel of the candidate, rather than about what they stand for and will be doing in their term of service.

I would very much hope for Hillary, as she is undoubtedly the best choice for the job, with the single nost important characteristic for being a successful president: she is connected like no other candidate.
