Most of us have. But the problem is that Singapore like to portray themselves as god's gift to the world..... China doesn't run around the world screaming "Tony, look at me, look at me Tony". This country gets tennis elbow from trying to pat itself on the back.

Unfortunately, it's a country with a 1st world infrastructure and 3rd world social habits. (And that's stretching it). It wouldn't be so bad but, as has been said umpteen times, people always point out other countries are just as bad (said in the defense of their bad habits) except for the fact that other countries haven't run 35 years of courtesy campaigns to educate the population with absolutely not discernible improvement in all those years.

Quite common for people to think that everything in their own country is best.
So, yes, your expectations may be high and, yes, it could be better.
However, it really is a matter of perspective.
Dep did not have enough much's in front of the "better."
Agree with him that spending time in a place like Shanghai allows you to appreciate the courtesy and graciousness that does exist here.

I saw a funny scence the other day when I got on at harbourfront MRT which is end of the line. As the train pulled in the board said train leaving in 6 minutes and there were proabbly about 15 people all up waiting to get on. They all pushed through people trying to get off the train. It was a ridiculous scene as there were so many spare seats and the train wasnt leavinf for some time.

The Lion failed, the rapper with the big goita and his long fingernail and his mum with the weird floral jacket should all be sacked. Time for the someone a bit more scary.

If Harbourfront station was your closest MRT like it is mine, you'd soon stop finding these scenes funny.

I've gotten so fed up with these kiasu idiots (from all corners of the world) trying to cram onto the train without letting passengers off first, that I've taken to literally shoving them out of my way as I disembark while shouting, "Let the passengers off FIRST you morons!" (To my significant other's total mortification...)

Young, old, male, female or other, they all get the same treatment. It probably makes me a horrible person but it is a great stress reliever... Heh, heh

I may well be pissing into the wind, but I'm hopeful that my actions will have something of a Butterfly Effect and slowly but surely these savages will be civilised.

I enjoy getting off the train especially when I have my wheeled computer bag. Not only do I shove them back out the door as they attempt to get in before letting me off, I make a point of running over their shins with the wheels.

Looks like I'm not the only one who has found alternate uses for a 14kg samsonite hardside briefcase. Works a treat when you step off smartly and the briefcase follows in rapidly increasing arc. It'll leave a pretty good bruise I reckon, on the thighs it has often clipped head on. And yeah, my wife often get a wee bit perturbed at me as I also tend to vocalize a wee bit.

After a quarter of a century though, she has gotten almost as bad as me for telling off the genetic idjits!

Why indeed? If you've read any of the other posts in this forum you'll have seen that the driving habits in Singapore are as bad as the MRT habits. At least all you get in the MRT is fustrated and a potential bruise. A fender bender will be more expensive.

glad im not the only one..did that in Indonesia though..
i practically screamed, and suddenly there was a total silence..and they stop getting on the train..and stop making noise..enough time to let us get off the train..

i guess slowly all the ppl here are becoming quite self-centered perhaps not that true but after living in australia for a year or so i realised we can make much difference here in terms of interpersonal skills..

I've been here for over 26 years and they were self-centered when I got here in '82. Nothing slow about it. Except for learning good social habits that is......

well i thought as i have not been here long enough so was thinking "slowly" will be a good word to use
..but here we have from the horses mouth thats its been there for quite sometime..
there is still time to improve and i hope we see some soon

Yeah, I was hoping to see some improvement before I die but if it takes another 26 years to just get to where their were 26 years ago, I'll be long dead and gone by then (or damn closed to it at around 88!)
