Hey guys,
I read from the website that United flight attendants (based in Singapore) will only staff flights within Asia. Does that mean that the incumbent will NOT be able to fly to other destinations other than the Asia continent? Anyone had any slight idea?

Previously UA's Asian based FAs hired from both Singapore and Bangkok and based in their respective countries only flew regional routes meaning their Asian network. Narita (Tokyo) was/is a major hub for UA and most connections to onward flights to the US take off from there with the US based crew flying those routes as well as some Asian routes. Yes UA actually had 2 bases in Asia when they started their Asian operations in 1986 after buying out Pan Am and their routes. Both the SIN and BKK bases were closed years later and I don't recall the exact year.

For your information, previously UA's Asian based crew from both Singapore and Bangkok also wore slightly different uniforms from their American counterparts and were on a different pay scale as well. The uniforms were provided at no cost to the Asian crew. I don't know if and what will change with the present intake. Training for the first batches was conducted in the US with some later batches being trained in Singapore. Again, things may vary now if there are changes within the company's policies.

Good luck to all aspiring FAs.

my fren's sis went for e UA interview today... she said dat all e ppl in her group were ex-FA... so she asume dat tis round they r recruiting e more senior n experienced then follow by newbies... she also mention dat current UA FA will not be flying asia... so tis recruitment is solely for asia flights...

gd luck!!!

All the ex FAs are from international airlines for example SIA and Emirates??

How old are they?? I heard western airlines recruit old applicants, even 50 year-olds..

Passengers will die of heart attack!!

Yep they do recruit mature applicants there. They need to look presentable of course. An American friend of mine told me he know someone who just joined an airline last year and she's around the age of 40.
