I think historically there was mention of Susan? Or someone else at cmpb?
Is there still a defaulters branch?

There is very little leniency - this is why you see people coming back now and taking the hit. Don't stay outside any longer if you want to return to Singapore in the future.

History has a habit of making people look like fools. I gave you the links. pick up a phone or use Whatsapp/Skype/Telegram and ask them. I'm sure they will help.

what do you mean? Yes I want to address the lapse in exit permit issue. I do want to visit singapore again. Thus I want to plea my case? I do not want to get arrested or head to court.

You can't plead the case remotely. That's the whole catch 22. You can definitely make things a bit easier (i.e. avoid being arrested on arrival by arranging a surrender) but I would engage a solicitor to set up a managed surrender at Changi Airport. There's no way to mitigate this without appearing in court in Singapore

No I'm not a lawyer. The process IS (from a friend who had same issue):
You arrive
Immi notes you are AWOL
They inform MP (who are in Changi)
MP come and grab you
You go to Brig
From Brig to MC (military court).
What you need to do is negotiate via a solicitor to avoid all that by volunteering to surrender on arrival so it's not a surprise and shows that you are cooperative. There is a formula for the fine and prison time - you can probably find it somewhere.

did your friend complete his 2 years NS??
I read that they are strict with pre-enlistees who default on their NS - commonly jail term nowadays compared to fines in the past.
I am a NSman who completed NS and has a lapse in my exit permit period.

I don't think there has been an NS man jailed for overstaying his permit. Plenty have been jailed for never doing their NS.

Guys who don't do NS are different to guys who have been too long on an expired exit permit.
I don't think there has been an NS man jailed for overstaying his permit. Plenty have been jailed for never doing their NS.
There are three different types of charges. The least is having done your NS but overstaying your exit permit. The next two will have jail time as well as fine and duty in various quantum's. There are Defaulters (those who left without doing their NS without going through the proper protocols - it's a minefield deliberately). Then there are the bunch in the middle - those who went AWOL while in NS {Absent WithOut Leave}. These are the ones who are really hung out to dry till hell freezes over. The Defaulters are the only ones, as noted by PNGMK, who may get out of jail time if a lawyer can get a voluntary surrender arranged.
