Hi all,

I wanted to ask a quick question.

Applied for Singapore citizenship for my wife (Race is Indian for both of us). She was given PR based on spouse in late 2011. Upon completing her two year PR, we applied for her SC, again based on spouse scheme.

Currently, our income is approx. - for myself - 90k plus annual and for her 36k annual.

I, being the primary applicant is a naturalised SC since early 2011. I have also studied here in NUS and been working here since late 2006.

My question is... we applied in late 2013 - what are our chances like?
Any idea on how long it would take. We have just gone over 6 months since our application date.

Appreciate your advise/opinions/expererience.

just so i'm clear: she applied for SC 12 months ago and it was rejected 6 months later.

now that 6 months has passed since the rejection and she's going to apply again? were there any changes to your/her profile?

any kids? how old are you two? did she pay any taxes? i think the more details you give, the better.

This is our first application. She has not been rejected.

Got married in mid 2011. Got her PR in Oct 2011 (I applied for her PR under spouse scheme - I am a naturalised Singaporean since 2006 - studied in NUS and working since late 2006).

Applied for her SC (again under spouse scheme - I (husband) sponsored) in Oct 2013 (after completing the 2 year period that ICA had directed). So we are about six months into the waiting time now and I was wondering if someone in similar circumstances and their waiting time. I am hearing that it should be soon after six months but I can appreciate that no one case is the same.

Ages: myself 33 and wifey is 27.
Kids: 0
Taxes: 2012 - wife did not earn enough to pay. 2013 (she filed) but she just has a small amount since she made only 24k in 2013.

Myself - Taxes - since 2007 - starting with 40k income in 2006 and now approx 90k plus.

I can't comment on the chances but waiting time of 10-14 months is pretty common these days if you look at the other threads

An update from my side: into the eight month of waiting and I called the ICA Singapore Citizenship line. The answer was vague, and she commented that 6-9 months is the norm depending on back-log and some applications could take longer. She continued to advise me to wait for the letter in the post.

I am not sure if this is going to affect the processing time but I did submit new employment documents around mid-May via ICA's email.

Any thoughts/responses appreciated, as always.

The application for my wife, sponsored by myself, has now been pending over 18 months.

Since applying for her citizenship in October 2013, the following things have happened:

1. wife changed job in Jan 2014 and annual salary is 38.4k
2. i changed jobs in Feb 2014 and again in Nov 2014; my salary increased from 94k to 138k - i.e. annual salary.

I have updated the ICA about the changes in employment.

I inquired at the ICA a couple of times regarding the application but did not get a response beyond the futile "pending" (which I regularly check online).

Given that it has been a long wait, can I do something based on past experience(s) to speed up the process (and a positive outcome) or is my option to simply wait?

It may be just sheer coincidence but ... from experience and friend's experience, any time somebody did a follow up or chased ICA for supposedly overdue applications for PR, SC or LTVP, without fail, within a fortnight a written response came back, in the form of rejection letter ...

Well, I did follow up with them a couple of times in person, and I was not rejected.

Most recently, after a phone conversation, where I was advised to write in to their email, and I did. It has been a few weeks and nothing has changed.

If it is true, I hope I can break that trend

Please, for the love of God, just be patient. Stop emailing them. Stop asking us. They can take as much time as they want. You all not even Singaporean yet already so kancheong.

I am relatively new to this forum and I already know, reading all the past threads, that all you can do is just WAIT (I don't care if it's been 3 years since you submitted your application). I see the mods have explained time and time again, to everyone who keeps wondering when they will hear back from ICA. You are no different from everyone else.

You hear back from ICA when limpeh approves/rejects you. Simple as that.

And people wonder why we sometimes bite back! (try 10 years on this board!)
