Singapore Expats

Hi there, I'm a UK national and have just secured a job offer, starting in the New Year.

I was hoping to gain some advice on the best areas to rent accomodation, which would be be close to work / commutable.

Im moving alone, so at this point unsure if the best option is to look for other expats renting a room out / or look at 1 bed appartments myself.

I'll be working on North Bridge Road and dont mind a short commute in the morning.

Aslo, was keen to understand if there is addtional rates paid on tp of monthly rent cost, i.e power / gas / local taxes?

Any help /advise would be greatly appreciated.

You can take a subway ride between the far edges of the country in under 90 minutes. Everything is relatively "close".

Has the employer given you a housing budget, or are you paying everything out of your salary? Either way, how much do you plan on spending on accommodation and what is "close" in your opinion?

you may want to checkout The ARRIS @ Tanjong Pagar, this is really a nice and quiet environment. Yet near to shopping, pubs and some near cozy restaurants. Small development. Good for single and couple. The rental for a 2 bedrooms about $5k, if budget permit, this is really a near place to start with. I love it myself.

That is decent, for London. But it's relative. A 1 hour commute in Sg will soon become tiresome when everyone around you is getting in in 15min. And it's even worse if you are playing a sardine for that commute.

Hi, I would think that

First, tell us how much is your budget including utilities or without.

Second, u would like to share room, a room on your own or a whole flat/department.
