Seven years ago it seemed there were so many shops selling DVDs and music CDs. Now I can't find music cd shops and the DVD shops sell all Chinese serials and movies. Where do you go to buy movies in Singapore.

1. City hall - basement 1, take the escalator next to the Starbucks after you emerge from the city hall met.

2. Peninsular plaza has a store selling LPs and some cds ( mostly rock)

It was such a shame that hmv house shut down.

Thanks

Seen the one in city hall already. I think there is only one shop there. Didn't know about HMV. It's listed on the Singapore tourism site along with Roxy records which I couldn't find either. That's supposed to be in peninsular plaza. :-P

Generally DVDs/CDs/BDs are always better (cheaper, better choice) to be bought online from overseas (Amazon, CD Universe, Deep Discount) but I can not comment on the Chinese stuff. There are also some local online music/movie stores.

What's left of HMV is located at Marina Sq - the annexe that connects with Suntec via the overhead bridge.

There's also a DVD shop in Vivocity on the 2nd floor, near to the cinema, that is surprisingly well-stocked.

These days I tend to buy my DVDs (usually TV series) from Amazon but I do miss the days of just being able to go into a nice big HMV and browse.

Can't help you to find the DVD's, although I know for sure that you can rent them from the libraries :)

I do recall "That CD Shop" still sells music CD's...

I think there's one at Pacific Plaza, one under Paragon, one under Raffles City, and one at Marina Bay Shoppes...

That CD shop at Great World City seems to have quite a selection.
However, prices are not cheap.

Their online inventory management system can tell you which shop has what CDs.
Of all the difficult to find CDs I was looking for, only that shop had any.

I never bothered with local CD shops. They will charge you so much to order a CD that you're better off buying from Amazon yourself and still come out cheaper.

We gave up.
Rent movies on Itunes(through an american account) onto computer and plug HDMI into tv.
For Game of Thrones we bought off Amazon.
Even though we pay extra for HBO, they censor the crap out of it. So screw that.

A large collection of tv shows and movies appear to be available in mustafa, however the pricing is somewhat atrocious

Wouldn't use them to order a CD.
Like you say, much cheaper to buy online yourself.

However, if there's something you need right now and can't wait or just need a place for impulse buying, you might have an option.
