What do we have to do about bringing our collection of CDs and DVDs? So far I've figured out that they have to go to some censoring agency, but I still have questions.

what is allowed and what isn't?
who and where is this agency?
and what happens to my DVDs and CDs if they don't approve?

Oh, and what about songs I've recorded onto my iPod? I have the CDs for all of them, but do I have to declare that somewhere and proove something?

I don't think it's that complicated. I think they do ask you if have any pornography, but unless you're trying to bring that in, I think it's pretty easy.

No one even asked to see my I Pod when I went through customs. I think it's only dirty pictures or seditious material that could get you in trouble.

I would ask your moving agent. I'm still getting some clarification but this is what my agent sent me.

VIDEO TAPES (includes discs)
Recorded video tapes/films, except for Ballet, Opera, Classical and Jazz music recordings, sports, educational, documentary and cartoon videotapes and films meant for children, must be censored on arrival to Singapore. A detailed list of titles with the documentation should be provided and packed in separate and clearly marked boxes and placed in an easily accessible position in the container/lift van. This will facilitate customs clearance and delivery.

I also read somewhere that they charge $10 a tape to check if it's on the censor list. Not sure about that but I'm checking.

A guy I worked with brought in a couple hundred pirated dvds from China and all they did was keep them for a couple of days and then he picked them up. They said he should not have brought them in.

They say you have to pay $10 to check each one, yadda yadda yadda.

Better to be safe then sorry, I suppose. But I have never had anything said about bringing stuff in. Maybe only a matter of time, maybe only a fear tactic.
