Singapore Expats

Just read that the last surviving Wendys is no more and that they have exited Singapore for a 2nd time.

Whilst its taken Wendys 5 yrs to come and go , I have never noticed so many places opening and closing in a short space of time like in Singapore.

I quite liked their Milkshakes as well.

Not gonna miss 'em

Took cheese burger home to find the cheese was missing

Sent an email and no reply (I don't want a free meal but a response would have been nice)

And the chilli beef was out of stock in the Lavender outlet

And another time there was a big notice, NO BACON

Wondering when they were gonna shut down, though I don't like to see the crew become jobless

The lavender place is being taken over by Mac

Wendy's is great in the US, but miserably terrible in Singapore. It was actually my very first meal on this island when I moved here, at 11pm in lau pa sat many years ago.

All these franchises cannot survive in the high rent environment. They simply don't have the margin to support it- esp if the food is imported.

Yeah.. It is unfortunate... Kinda liked their baked potatoes and chillies...

I liked their chillies but not much

Because half the time they had no stock. Really ...

I pass by them daily at Lau Pa Sat. I never tried going inside, because they have nothing that can be construed as vegetarian, expect for french fries may be. Today I noticed a board outside, they have closed since 17th April. Wonder how they can close all their outlets, one shot. What about the rental contracts? They are going to be hit by massive losses I guess.

Wendy's is "restructuring" their business, worldwide or so the news says

walked pass Wendys a few time and could tell that their business was really bad

I share the shock in the way that so many outlets open and then close. At least half a dozen times in the last couple of months my wife and I have been to do some shopping or eat food and the place has shut down and boarded up!

Never really had an affinity for Wendy's but I do miss Wimpy

I miss A&W the most =(
