Thanks for the clarification, Sherlock

Advertising, except in Classifieds, is frowned upon in this board.

And the poster just did it, and I suggested if he looked at other off the shelf solutions, than looking for an "APP DEVELOPER" to build what basically sounds like an Accounting package

Hi presumptuous sherlock I am not creating an accounting software / app but rather the app requires an in-built accounting tool to track financial data and produce financial reports.

Members here can PM if they know of any developer or are a developer themselves (I am now requiring to explain this method of communication in case certain individuals with brains the size of peas couldn't figure out how members can contact me on their recommendations)

Is it advertising? Looks like a request for a recommendation for app developers based on forum members' experience.

I'm not a mod either.

That what I thought it was as well. A request for recommendations. (but I've been following the thread just in case).

Oh, and yeah, I'm a mod.

You should check with a couple of the freelance sites... I've used Elance with success but there are others as well.

The key to these sites is that you must know how to vet the responses. You'll get quite a few unqualified people. And obviously, you'll want to state your exact needs without giving away the app.

How would you deal with credential theft when dealing with sensitive bank logins using freelance devs?

Excellent point sporkin - it was something I have to consider developing this app.

SE - anyone in particular on elance you used before for app development?

No on in particular as it was a different technology and a while back. I will say it is necessary to judge not only the technical skills but the contextual understanding of how the app and people fit together. For example, I found lots of people with the technical knowledge to extract information from a KB, form it into an email, send it to tech people, then take their responses and use them to update the KB. What was much harder to find was a person or company who could envision the working environment, the types of people who would use the app. They had a much harder time understanding the big picture and consequently, proper flow, GUI, etc. I ended up doing one deal with a guy from Canada, and another with an Indian guy who had been living in the USA.

Try elance or if you have the budget, I would recommend just googling for app developer in Singapore.. Quite a lot of firms do mobile apps now and you can meet up with these businesses to discuss your requirements.. It is not necessary to outsource to overseas when you get quality, reliability & accountability when you work with a Singapore company.
