I have been reading all PR related posts over the past 1 year so let me share my own profile:

Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Age: 27
Nationality: European
Years in Singapore: 3
Industry: Investment Banking
Salary 150k / year
Languages: fluent in 4 european languages and 2 asian languages where one of them is Mandarin.

Rejected after 10 month pending.

Does the rejection letter say 'apply after x months' ?

I vote for "banker's curse"... statistics probably show that too many in the banking industry at your salary level don't stay in Singapore and are a bad PR bet.

From your other posts it appears you arrived in SG at the end of 2013 so you applied for PR after living here for slightly over 1y only. Even the preferred groups (M/I-Chinese) may have problems with the approval after such a short period and you are not the ethnical preferred group, and unlikely the professional preferred group neither.

- PR appoved Jul 15
- Female/Indonesian Chinese/single/Bachelor degree in Economics from university in Indonesia
- Work as Finance in US consumer goods/$135k annual income.

Hi Jessy Lixuan,

Nothing extraordinary in my application, maybe it is only luck or I am blessed.

What I put:
- No family/sponsor in SG.
- Jobs: According to many ppl (agency etc), I hv a stabil job, I can provide strong reason why I moved (increase level/role/scope). 15 years working, 3 times changing job, all US company.
- Education: professional certification CIA and CFA.
- Language: Only Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Organization: Involved in many volunteer services continuosly since junior high school (both inside/outside school organization) until prior to departing fr Indo. I already started to attend some activities in SG when applying PR, but did not mention about this (with reason too early as still adjusting to life and work in SG).
- I stated clearly I want to be a SG citizen if I had an opportunity, as it is generally safer living here - even I have a good life in Indo; añd my willingness to help others in need.

9 out of 10 times, ICA offers will return the cover letter, and it's very rare for them to accept any cover letter- maybe somebody else can correct me.

their rationale being, they only accept what's in the list, i.e. birth certificate, passport copy, educational achievements ... Employment letter ..

Relieved to hear that, cause the cover letter is the last thing I would like to submit.

I did not prepare any cover letter at that time. I submitted the documents based on their requirments only.

hi all, would like to share my recent experience on PR approval.

- Male, China citizenship. Married to Singaporean wife since 2012.
- applied PR based on spousal sponsorship. Wife not working, 1 child, singaporean citizen.
- not working in Singapore, businessman with company in China
- took 1 month to get LTVP+ approved, and applied for PR at same time. Exactly 4 months to get the inprincipal approval for PR.
- we had "cover letters" - mine explaining why I wanted PR in singapore (son singaporean, would like to eventually settle down in Singapore) and my wife's explaining that she intends to look for a job (her last job was in mid 2015, annual income $150K).

We thought our chances were not too bad but we've also been told that when the wife is the singaporean sponsor (vs husband as sponsor) it's harder to get approval (reason being that the wife is the "childbearing" one and whether they grant husband PR or not they already "have" the child in singapore). And we worried because my wife doesn't have an income currently, and my work isn't in Singapore.

Also, perhaps also relevant to the OP, my English caucasian friend who has been in Singapore on work visa - teacher in elite schools here, first class honours from top UK university - for over 10 years, single, finally applied for PR in 2014 and got rejected.

My husband is an Indonesian citizen. I am a Singapore citizen and will be the sponsor for his Singapore PR Application.

I have a few questions to ask everyone and would sincerely appreciate any guidance provided.

I am currently working in the Public Service. I am working on a contract basis as this organization generally hires on a contractual basis despite being a statutory board.

I have completed my probation and am 10 months into my job. Prior to this, I was working for a year on another contract role and before that I worked in Australia for about 7 years.

We will be submitting my husband's PR documentation in November 2016. I have just been offered another permanent job with Singhealth.

Please advice if it would be wise for me to switch jobs now or while his application is still pending?

I would think that a permanent job (with a slightly higher salary) will be beneficial as I am the main sponsor for this application. However, I am worried that the change in job while the PR is being processed might end up affecting the application as it might look like I am a job hopper.

The PR application requires me to provide an employer's letter stating last last month's salary and confirming my employment. Would all this no longer be valid when I have a new job(will be on 6 months probation) and the PR is still being processed?

Please advise?

I have to add that we have a son who is also a Singapore citizen. My husband is not working in Singapore as he could not find a job here. He is now working in Indonesia as he wanted to keep working as compared to being unemployed. My husband is now on a LTVP.

We have been married for 4 years

As long as you are working (contribute to CPF) and able to prove that with the income you will be able to support your husband and kid, it should be ok.

If he is working on LTVP, it would be good.
