what is the max amount I can get on a singaporean ATM,
in an unique withdrawal, with a foreign card ?

neglect my foreign bank's limit and stuff like that.

I'd like to get personal experiences.

Default withdrawal limits are typically SGD 3,000 per day at ATMs in Singapore. Your foreign bank's limit is likely to be lower and thus controlling.

I do not recommend holding/carrying significant amounts of cash (more than SGD 1,000 or so). Merchant acceptance of credit and debit cards in Singapore is extremely common. Please note that Singapore requires declaring cash (and cash equivalents) when you are holding/carrying the equivalent of SGD 20,000 or more.

You can go into a bank and get 30K by passing a note to the teller if you like.

Mr Roach didn't declare ! Seems he wasn't picked up, neither when he was in Singapore nor when he left

OP said foreign card. Did you take into consideration in your reply?

My US based credit union ATM limit is $500 USD and it can't be changed, online or in person. It's been that amount ever since I opened the account in 1990.

It looks like I have option to change by POSB ATM withdrawal limit up to 5000 SGD (500, 1000, 2000, 3000 or 5000). No such option for Citibank online. Never tried to change in person. I think the account max out at 3000 per day.

now that you say that, I remember some expats in PH complaining about the same. Any idea why US banks want to keep the money, either from your account or drawn on VISA ? Unlike Asian banks which go all out to let you take more ..

If I recall correctly, POSB / DBS limit can be raised higher than 5K, likewise for UOB and OCBC.

It would appear that it would depend on the individual foreign bank. Best thing I can think of is to call the respective bank as ask them. From the hoss' mouth is the best way. It would seem there are various limits.

Interesting ... although I don't keep that much money in POSB. Maybe 20K max balance since I transfer monthly expense fund to this account to use for pay rent, monthly expenses and hopefully enough for income tax lump payment.

Maybe if I kept a bigger balance, I get more choices for limit? I don't want or need that between two local bank accounts.

Before when I just had US based credit union, I had multiple accounts in same credit union so I can withdraw more than $500 per day. I think the limit for a normal bank is higher but I haven't had that in a long time.

Actually i came across this issue before and i only had to contact the overseas bank to sort this out...rather strange. Basically i wrote to wamu in the states as i wanted to withdraw 5k at a time and within a month i was able to do so. Then again this was 2.5 yrs ago but i doubt they would change it
