I'm not sure about DIY...
But if you are looking for home carpet cleaning service which is good, cheap and reliable, you can try out Page Advisor Apps.

Sorry... I do not know much about the owner.... I am just one of the apps user and I thought it is quite useful and thus share here.

I recently saw that post and wanted to share my thoughts. It appears useful, but I recommend further research, particularly checking ratings and reviews before trying it. As someone who uses carpet cleaning services, I prefer professional cleaners and spend time ensuring their reliability to avoid regrets later.

I grew up with wall to wall carpeting in every room except the bathrooms and kitchen. We never used carpet cleaners, just vacuumed once a week. In Singapore, the thought of having carpet is totally nonsensical. Although I love sinking my feet into plush carpeting, it’s impractical in the tropics. If you are going to pay for any service, I would pay to have the carpet removed.
