Yep that old chestnut.

I have heard so many people doing "charity work" in Singapore in order to build up a case to get PR. It is so obvious!

Many of these people immediately stop their "charity" as soon as they are approved or declined for PR.

If you do charity, do it for charitable reasons, and keep doing it. Please do not do it for a return on investment. It kind of makes a mockery of those that genuinely do perform charitable tasks out of the goodness of their own hearts, and not just to get a stamp in their passport.

I agree with you. I will be coming to SG in July, will be stay at home dad with some time on my hands. Can you recommend some organisations/websites where I can find out about options to help?

Charities are bit disinterested in engaging foreigners on SVP.

So what would your pass here be?

I am traveling spuouse, my wife will be working, so I will have DP. We are on first 2 year contract and planing to stay long term

There are expat associations (American Association of Singapore, for example) that are always looking for volunteers.

AWWA, Asian Women' Welfare Association, has a lot going on and looks out for volunteers for their many activities. They do a sterling job and are highly organized.

Focus on the Family (not everyone's cup of tea) are also able to use people - my wife helped out while on an LTVP.
