Qualification: BBA in a Local University in HK

1 st application in Dec 16. Rejected in 5 months.

I noticed that it is very hard for non-malaysian Chinese to obtain the PR within 2 years.
Since I am not studying in Singapore and no family member in Singapore, is it very hard to obtain it?

How can I improve the chance?
When should I re-apply?

Although you have been in SG for 2 years+, you only applied after 1.5yrs.

No harm to try again. Make sure you get a big double digit payrise.

If possible, try to marry SC and have a baby boy on the way.

Apply after 2 more years of stay and work and by then you will also have 3 NOA to submit.

Get 3 years NOA and apply.

You stand a good chance with 3 NOAs.

You have 'çhinese' the race, so your chances improved over the competition

How to improve ?

as suggested, get a SC wife, get her to make a baby ...

Stay a little bit longer, maybe?

Hi, I am also from HK working for bank. I also did not study in SG and had no relatives in SG. So, my profile is very similar to you, with the following difference :

1. I was 42 when I applied.
2. I am married with 2 kids (1 girl 1 boy).
3. My annual salary is higher than yours.

I arrived SG at Jun 2015, applied in Aug 2016, approved in Apr 2017. I only had 1 year of NOA. So it proves that there is still chance for approval with staying less than 2 years.

As others have rightly pointed out, your issue could be your "single" status. I think even Malaysian Chinese with similar background like you may get rejected.

I may disagree but....

Oh, it's not that 3 year NOA is deal breaker.

The more ticks you get the more hoops you clear.

I base that from Malaysian friends.

Those who waited 3 years all got it, vs those who applied with lesser NOAs. Singles.. And not only MY Chinese.

So, I disagree gently.

Unless SG Inc is doing social engineering, suggesting to get married or get married to a SG girl is a bit boring nowadays

I think you missed my point.

3 years of NOA will mean less negatives.

That's what I meant.

Vs one less basic requirement being Met.

Honestly, my profile is just normal in Singapore (too many competitors with better profile). No much advantage.

It really depends but it will be easier if you found a singaporean gf and get married will be much easier. The assessment is getting harder these days, need to see your desire to become singaporean and go with you can contribute to Singapore economy.

My Wife is also from HK, she first came to Singapore in 2016 on EP to work for a year and we got married. We immediately applied for LTVP and PR. she got her PR after 6 month on first attempt.

I heard from my friend that ICA will look at the applicant's own merit on how he/she contribute economically to Singapore economy as well as the ability of the spouse to support the applicant, etc.

You must deem to be a contributor instead of a liability to the society. Best if both of you are not deem to be vying social resources like CPF grants, HDB flats etc..with the locals.

If you are a citizen, and the govt want to see how your spouse will contribute yada yada yada ..

something is tragically wrong there.

Selective breeding ?

Rules don't apply for spouse of SC. Unless the govt has really started enforcing selective breeding.

But I thought rules do apply - what about SC trying to marry WP without permission?

Well no one really knows what are the criterias they based on. But if you look at their PR application form, they asked a lot of information about their spouse i.e. Income, job, etc. when applying PR for spouses.

If it is really based on own merits of the applicant, why do they need so much information abrout the spouse?

My best guess would be there have a long checklist and the more ticks you have on the list, the higher and faster the chance you get your PR.
