Singapore Expats

probably sick of us Brits by now so apologies for adding to the pile

My name is Henry and im relocating in early June. i will only have one work colleague so thought it would be cool to start developing a social circle, especially with the world cup coming soon!

would be keen to meet any like minded people and starting to get to know some new friends

We are heading over about the same time- two Australians who have been living in the UK for most of the last 20 years.

EP's have just come through and we are packing up the house, shipping half to storage and half to Singapore.

Do you have an idea of where you want to live?
We've decided on River Valley area.

Brace yourself. The heat will cripple you on arrival if you're not prepared for it. I barely left the house during my first week here.

I'm a fellow Brit from Newcastle that's been in sg for almost two years. I'm down for meeting. If you need any tips for settling in hit me up.

I think either downtown or the Holland district. It would be good to be in an expat community, particularly as I am working in a company of only 2 people, so socialising elsewhere will be important

Tip top old chaps. Make sure you sign up for the Tanglin club and get yourself down to the cricket club as soon as you can.

Our typical schedule here is:

7am,wake up and take a bath with hot tea from the Wallah boy in the verandah.
9am, in to town to catch up with the work lads at the Chambers.
11am, adjourn to the SCC to read the news papers from London that came in on the flying boat the night before.
12pm, a spot of lunch with some of the civil service boys
2pm back to office to catch up with the early telegrams from old blighty
4pm off to the saddle club at Bukit Timah for a ride on the path with some of the retired calvary boys
6pm adjourn to the Tanglin for G and T.
8pm a spot of roast beef at the Tanglin
10 pm off to bed.

My Scottish partner will be here 22 July onwards, will send you a PM shortly to see if you guys have any common interests? Also you can try signing up for the app "InterNations", they have some activities every now and then, the only thing is that most stuff on there require a paid membership.
