Singapore Expats

So much for green or garden city. Another big beautiful mango tree gone, probably due to some rich arsehole complaining about it blocking something. Since I moved into my neighbourhood we've lost at least 10 big trees including some of the iconic angsana trees. Sometimes they plant replacements but they're usually a short ugly under canopy species that is weak.

In the east they are going due to MRT works. I'm hoping they will replant when they finish.

it takes 1 day to chop down a tree. it takes 10 years to grow 1. ^^

i agree. many short stubby trees around singapore due to removal of trees.

We will die very soon. Jk.. with more buildings coming up, its normal that we have to remove them to make space

Ya. My area too. I hope they plant more trees than cutting now. The air quality now is seriously bad compared to the years before. It is extremely bad when there's a haze.

I remember reading a post somewhere, that a country actually initiated to plant 1 billion trees. hopefully other countries are able to follow their footsteps.
In SG is difficult (i feel) as the land is too small and population is growing.

I have moved to Jurong last couple of months back, after spending ages in Tampines. This part of the island is very green, full of trees and water, I stay in Lakeside. However there are lots of mosquitoes and ants in our house. The area itself is very nice, a different experience from the east. People seem more friendlier over here. The mix of people is very different.
