I am trying to stimulate some discussions to let people air their views from different perspectives; whether the homo sapiens as a specie has learnt anything from these tragedies.



The point is that they all suffered and history continues to repeat itself because no one seems to learn anything from it.

Respect your opinion and agree.

About history repeating itself? Think it possible that we knew what went wrong but, being human, the gambling factor, the ego factor and many many others, just have them look way beyond all that...

Yes, a lot of Chinese suffered from the Japanese during 2nd WW (also quite a few Australians, British, Dutch and other allies btw), but just to look at China in this case: What did / do the Chinese do to their own ethnic citizens like the Tibetans?

I was incensed by what the Japs did in Nanjing in 1937. Helpless women and children were impaled, breasts lobbed off and many other INHUMAN WAR CRIMES that must make Saddam Hussein a goody goody guy from DIsneyland.


The author, Iris Chang of the Nanjing Massacre who committted suicide must have been so traumatised that she can't lead a normal life.

The facts about the other genocide cases affecting other nationalities were
taken cursory from a search on the web.

Similarly, what had happened at the holocaust when the NAzis gassed the JEws is also an unforgivable war crime.

Should we gas German civilians even though they had nothing to do with the war?

It boils down to individual abuse of power, not the country.

What about the suffering of the black people under the apartheid system in south africa and the indians under the british rule and so on :

This is not an ideal world and we can't expect people to behave in an ideal manner. History does repeat itself because we do not learn any lessons from it

i think africa,has suffered repeatedly and contiinously through foreign rule, slavery, natual disasters like drought etc, civil wars and numerous genocides. its perhaps the most unforgiving and has the most tragic history ever unfolding even today.
it makes me sad and helpless.
