Singapore Expats

Hello, my EP has been approved like a week ago and the company has started the process for DP of my wife. But as it is supposed to take 3-4 weeks, I am kinda confused if I should wait till it is approved or just move to Singapore and start working while my wife waits for getting her DP. I have tried to find as much as details I can get from different sites, but couldnt find any major risks for rejection of her DP. (salary req. of MoM is already satisfied, marriage is legal and so on).

Anyone knows any other reason which may cause a rejection? Or it is pretty much fine to relocate while DP is still being processed?

No issues. She will come in on a standard social visit pass that will be good for 30 days up to 90 days (depending on where home is). If she comes in on a 30 days SVP she should be able to get a extension for the additional time (if any) to her SVP until the DP is issued. As long as you are in a normal relationship and the marriage is legal I see no reason for any hold up barring a too colourful past or criminal record.

This applies for all nationalities as well? I have seen some posts, both here and on some other forums and sites that MoM might be picky for certain nationals. My wife is Indonesian, and she heard some "horror stories" from her friends that their DP application was rejected although she was married to a Singaporean citizen. So she is stil hesitating for just heading there and waiting for her DP in Singapore.

No you're right to be concerned. Until Indonesia apologises for and makes full reparations to Singapore for the MacDonald House bombing (and a few other incidents including naming their warships after the very bombers!) then Indonesian's will always have a risk of visa denial. That's what happens when you wage acts of terror on your neighbours.

Yeah, especially after reading another recent post about a DP applicant from Indonesia, this and her post are basically justifying my concerns.

I'm not exactly full of sympathy. Although Singapore and Indonesia were very close pre WWII there has been a dedicated effort to split them by both govts.
