Hi All,

I have applied for SG citizenship in November 2019 and is still in Pending status. What are the chances of approval? Profile is as below:

Main Applicant:
Gender: M
Race: Indian
Age: 33
Career: Cyber security
Salary : ~100k gross (88k basic + allowances)
PR Since: 2005
Education: Diploma (Local Poly), Degree (Australian Degree done from SG private school)

Secondary applicant:
KId: Age 3/Boy
PR since: 2018

Spouse (Not included in application since not PR for 2 years yet):
Age: 30
Career: Accounting
Qualification: Masters (India)
PR since: 2018


Also, my wife is currently pregnant with second child (EDD Dec20). Does informing ICA about this help in the application? Please advise.

In the current pandemic, 21 months is not very long. Reason is pre-covid, there were few applicants who had their outcome near the 24 months mark. So, in the current situation > 15 - 18 months is expected.

Not yet. The application status is still "Pending".

Don't lose hope as you would still have a good chance if your status shows pending. I applied mine together with my boy, 8 years of age (my case was a little complicated as my boy was born out of wedlock in Singapore and because of my status, I was worried that it would be rejected). I went through a lot to apply for a resident status for my boy when he was born from long term visit pass to PR within one year after he was born. The fact that I had no job when I delivered my boy in Singapore was very tough for me; being all by myself with a baby and another son aged 11 years old then. Fortunately, my mom who lives with me stood by me throughout. I had to look for a job immediately after my confinement and was lucky to have found a job or else my boy would not have been able to live here. I applied for Citizenship together with my boy 5 years ago and got rejected. I got married (2nd marriage in Singapore) in 2019 and decided to try my luck to apply for citizenship for the both of us. I applied in June 2019 and after waiting for 16 months, I received my AIP via email on 1 November 2020. Completed my SG-ejourney on 9 November and received my final stage later on 12 November via email too. Went to the High Comm to renounce citizenship and was told that I would have to email to get an appointment. I did accordingly and the appointment given to do the renunciation is in early January 2021 and my appointment for completion of formalities at ICA is in early December. The AIP letter states that the SG-eJourney and renunciation must be completed within 2 months from the date stated in the AIP letter. So I emailed ICA and attached the appointment that I got with the High Comm and appealed for an extension of time for my completion of formalities which I managed to get an extension until the 3rd week of January next year. Well that was it and I am really looking forward to the completion. Hope these details help. All the best.

Before all that, what’s your race and previous nationality. There’s a reason to believe that chances are tied to ethnicity/nationality due to to Quotas.
