Malls in the city seems quieter

I was quite surprised to see the malls and restaurants in the city rather quiet, many restaurants were barely half filled and even the retail shops seemed quiet. Looks like everyone just prefers to stay home and chill.

Or stay locally. I don't know about the malls but around me the bars and restaurants are doing good trade.

Depends on time of day and area. Even after COVID, people are more careful, and now they are also trying to recover their financial losses. Only tourists have fun, and even then there are fewer of them than usual.

I suppose there are a few people trapped here. I guess you could call them tourists, or prisoners.

My favourite hangout is orchard gateway. Not as crowded as before, but the crowd is still there. Will recommend there if you wish to kill a day off.

What's interesting in Orchard Gateway? Lots of empty shops when I last visited.
There aren't supposed to have any tourists. But hearsay the incoming foreign workers are ongoing even in circuit breaker period.

I prefer suntec city. I used to be intimidated by the large crowds before COVID so I would frequent quieter malls, but now that COVID has calmed down I have once again returned.

I hate Suntec City for the fact it's too big and getting from one corner to another is a real nightmare. I think I only visit there like once in every 5 years.

Yeah suburban malls like those in Jurong are back to normal, very crowded even on weekdays.
But cbd malls are a shadow of their past. We went to lucky plaza on a weekday evening during the December school holiday and it was like a ghost town.
Takashimaya and Metro in Orchard road were also quite deserted.

It can be quite intimidating if you’re not familiar with the place, but my family loves going there because of the sheer number of stores, there’s something for everyone.

Honestly, the overall mall "experience" has taken a bad hit with COVID.
Being herded & tagged like cattle, temperature taking when driving into the car park, blocked entrances/exits all over the place, walking around with a bloody face mask for hours, checking in & out into every store...
- These days I'm only in a mall if I absolutely need to be.
Amazon handles the rest.

The older I get, my disdain towards crowd grows.
So, this suits me just fine.
Not too many, although it’s been growing by the week.

Completely agree. Going to malls nowadays is more of a hassle than it is a joy. Like you, I now choose to do most of my shopping online, both for safety and for convenience.
