Is anyone familiar with dry cleaners in the Raffles Center area... or somewhere reasonably close to the Standard Chartered/UOB buildings?

I've found a couple at the arcade but each wants to keep my clothes for 5 days while cleaning. That is waaaayyyy long. I'd like a day or two turnaround.

Sorry to say I can't help you with that particular shop, but I have used dry cleaning services at Singlap and Parkway Parade. Both had a waiting time frame of 7 days (would call if back earlier, never did). Have asked around and found that all dry cleaning goes to same factory to be done, thus explains long turn around time. If you locate a quicker time, wonderful and let me know, too! Anxious to hear what others may have to say about this.

Yeah, what's up with the massive turnaround times for dry cleaning? When I was staying in the Gallery Hotel, "normal" laundry is done in one day and "express" is within 4 hours. Why can't regular dry cleaners achieve turnarounds of less than 5 days...?

for normal 4 working days turn around. However if u need
1 or 2 days turnaround, we do offer express service. 1 Day express is double that of normal cost and 2 days express is 50% more. Pls call 63382993 or 96387402 if u need more details. Cheers!

My father owns a dry cleaners in UK. Let me tell you why there is such a large turnaround: Most cleaners only have 1 machine, normally limited to a 30 kg load. Dry cleaning cycle takes approx 90 mins. However you cannot throw everything together; lights and darks must be separated, delicates have their own cycle. Everything must be sorted by hand and any marks stains indicated (at the counter usually). The dry cleaner then has to pre-treat every garment before going into the machine. Some marks do not get removed first time and have to be treated again and re-cleaned. It's possible for some stains only to appear after cleaning - pre-treat and clean again. Finally, when the cleaning is satisfactory, all garments have to be 'finished'. This involves the use of a steam cabinet and press, (this can be a long process too with the advent of gluing suits together - the glue puckers in the dry cleaning solvent and has to hand pressed flat) and in the case of 'quality' dry cleaners a final hand press with an iron of linings, collars etc. So it's not a fast process - those offering a fast turnaround CANNOT do the job properly in that time. My father for instance does not offer 'same day service' instead he tells them to go to the big chain 'Johnson's' who will do it in 4 hours. (they throw everything in together, steam it when it comes out - no checks for stains before or after....

And I haven't even mentioned upkeep of the machine especiallly the solvent which must be distilled regularly...or when a a ball point pen has fallen through a hole in someones pocket and exploded in the machine - every garment now covered in ink - all have to hand treated again...

eash says he can do 1 day turnaround for 100% surcharge - because your stuff has to jump the queue (maybe more than once) - a 4 day turnaround is normal

HI, I know of a drycleaning service which can do 24 hours & 48Hours turnaround time, but at a 100% extra charge for 24 hours & 50% extra charge for 48 hours.

For myself, i have two sets of clothing to cut down the cost of drycleaning.

A good service they provide is FREE HOME COLLECTION from 8pm to 11pm. Everyday after work, i reach home at about 9pm, hence, they come to my house to collect once a week, which i found quite convenient for my schedule.

I regularly get my shirts dry cleaned at The Laundy Spot. They have an offer of 5 shirts for SGD 10. The Laundry Spot is located in International Plaza near Tanjong Pagar and there is another shop in one of the malls near Raffles Place (I think on the 2nd floor).

i wash mine at a shop at west coast but they have a delivery service at nite too. my colleague gave me this guy's number. very prompt and good service

Can anyone recomend a good dry cleaners that does hand cleaning or is of a very high standard. We've just had another suit ruined by a certain company which claims to dry clean for hotels.
