Hi

Just wanting to know what my PR chances are (we applied a few months ago so expecting an outcome soon I guess)

Me:
Age: 33
Ethnicity: White
Pass: EP
Education; Masters from a very high reputation uni overseas
Job: 134k+
Time in Singapore: 3 years (under 3 at time of application)
Married
Child, a daughter who is on the application too.

Wife
Age: 33
Pass: EP
Ethnicity: Chinese
Education: B Law from a very high rep uni overseas
Job: 180k+
Time in Sg: 3 years


What do you think our chances are?

We filed the application by ourselves. Should we have used an agency? Although after filing it, I cannot see what additional benefit they provide...there was literally no space to provide supplementary documentation. Should we have filed with my wife as the primary considering she earns more $$$?

Low
Via Agency - No added benefit except for the money you spend
Can't say who can be the main applicant - as no mention about job roles
Supplementary documentation - Not needed unless they ask for

Wife is a lawyer. I'm an operations manager. We both have APAC wide remit.

Why low? Not disagreeing, but wondering what could be done (if it can be done) to moved higher up the pool for the next application.

Ethnic quota will be the main reason in my view.

Stay here for long and apply with wife as main applicant may be.

Salary is good and you obviously can’t change your ethnicity to better your chances, so the only thing you can do is wait before reapplying if you are rejected.

Job: Sr Manager (IT) in an F50 company
Salary: 150K+ per annum
Years in SG: 4 years
Degree: Two MScs (top unis)

I know my chances might not be very high as I'm in the Other category. My GF is Chinese and she has a high chance of getting it this time (7+ years in SG and she's got the ethnicity factor). Should I apply on my own or I completely stop applying and we marry and then she applies for me?

What do you think is the best strategy? I remember SMS mentioned (to other folks) that if we marry, we need to wait for 2 years. Is it going to be a negative factor if I apply (on my own) before the two years and if didn't get it, she applies for me?

The current thought process is that if you apply on your own now, you will probably be rejected due to ethnic category and high number of applicants in the other's category. On the other hand if you are rejected and marry, if/when that happens if you don't wait ~2 years of marriage or the birth of a child at some point around the 1 year time frame, because of your minority rejection it will surely look like a marriage of convenience (doesn't matter how long you have been 'dating' or living 'de facto' in the eyes of ICA. But with an initial rejection I think you can see how they may well think 'marriage of convenience' until such time as elapsed or offspring is produce (but I must also say that a child while the spouse is still a PR and not SGC trying after one year may well not be successful. Not trying to be a downer, but trying to give you the straight skinny without sugar-coating. Sadly, something I'm known for, "not blowing smoke" as it were.

If you're willing to wait, get married (when you're ready), and then wait 2 years. If you have a kid within that time, that helps.

Unable to edit my post for some reason, but as an add on: if your GF is a citizen by then, your child will, by default, also become a citizen which practically guarantees you citizenship.
