If you know English, your chances of landing a great career in a multinational organisation located in your native country or finding work in another country will be significantly increased. Because it is the language used for international communication as well as in the media and on the internet, learning English is not only important for professional reasons but also for socialising and having fun.

This is reading a lot like a school style essay, but your point is valid. Over time I’ve realized the reason why many resent Americans for only speaking English yet continue to engage with them IN English rather than reverting to their own languages is because at the very end of the day, it is imperative that the world has one language in common in order to communicate, and for several reasons (British colonization in particular) that is English.
