I joined an academic institute as a research associate in 2019 with 4.5k as salary (for 6 months contract). But my ep was applied for 5 years. After 6 months, my job offer had jon title as Senior IT Analyst (because they couldn't offer the same monthly pay 4.5 for researcher for 1 year contract due to funding issues in new project). So in the new role, they reduced my monthly pay to 4.1K and gave me 3 months bonus (and aws) which research role didn't have. So, they compensated me through bonus and aws. By the end of 2020, my monthly salary was incremented by 325 Sgd (4425 SGD). So, now the issue is my actual role was data scientist, data analyst kind of role but my job title was SENIOR IT ANALYST (when I quit). but I also produced scientific outputs, published papers etc.

So, in my form4a, I chose occupation as Data Scientist but keyed my job title as Senior IT Analyst (as per relieving letter).

Now myvqiestions are as follows

a) would my PR application be rejected right away when they review my form4a and identify this inconcistency?

b) Is it okay/correct to choose occupation based on what we actually did irrespective of job title?

c) Should I reach out to ICA in email and ask them to change occupation to what they deem fit for my job title?

I'll give you an easier answer. Based on ethnicity and salary range, they are going to reject your application. Unless you tell me that you are married to a Singaporean for at least 2 years prior to your application.

anyhow, I feel your pain a bit better than the others - I work with AI/data science, and due to my job title in the EP it doesn't fit directly with the "data science" category, but with another one which is IT related - which certainly have less weightage on their preselection ranking algo. In my previous submission my job title matched and I chose data science - still got rejected.
My only hope this time 'round is that the 20k foreigners that left during COVID means higher chance of acceptance and/or that's there's less PR applications.

Thanks for the response. I am not concerned about final PR outcome. What I am concerned is whether I filled the form4A correctly. I leave the outcome to luck/chance but just want to make sure that I did my job of submitting form4a without any mistakes

a) Should I update my Occupation in Form4a or leave it as is (as data scientist). I have attached professional testimonials which carries info regarding my job tasks etc.

b) Should I reach out to ICA via email and make any changes to form4A?

So, what ultimately matters is the job title registered while applying for EP. Is that what you mean to say? So, whatever we put in Form4A based on our work experience (in the job) doesn't really matter and is not considered as a problem? Am afraid whether ICA will treat this inconsistency (between job title and occupation in Form4a) as intentional manipulation of data (in an attempt to show that am working in demanding field like data science, AI etc). Of course, I have professional testimonials to back that up but not sure whether ICA will have time to go through all that
