PR Approval Chances (Indonesian Chinese)

Hi everyone,
Would love to hear your opinions on my chances of getting Singapore PR and when would be the best time to apply.
My profile
Age: 33 (1989)
Race: Indonesian Chinese
Gender: male
Marital: Married
Religion: Christian
Education: Degree in Computer Science from reputable Australian university
Current field of work: Tech startup company
Job position: Director of Product
Length of stay: 3 months (I'm not planning to apply soon, just want to know when would be best time to apply)
Tax return: N/A
Salary: ~200k gross
Pass: EP
My wife
Age: 35
Race: Indonesian Chinese
Religion: Christian
Education: High School
Job: Housewife
My daughter
Age: 1 (2021)
Rece: Indonesian Chinese
Religion: Christian
Some additional notes:
- Back in 2019 I transferred aroun 100k to Singapore to invest in ETFs, not sure if this is going to matter or not (I hope it will)
My questions are:
1. When should I apply to best maximise my chances of getting approved for PR?
2. I heard that some people are being asked to prove their Chinese ancestry, do any of you know what kind of documents are acceptable, especially for Indonesian?

After 3 years of stay and full IRAS tax assessments would be a good time for you to apply.

Hi Singaporeflyer,
Thanks for the quick reply. As to your question about which documents I have to prove my ancestry, I have none as far as I know. I mean all my family has Chinese names including me but no way to prove that as all our legal documents are using our Indonesian names.
Do you have any clue as to how officials here deem certain case as necessary to provide further ancestry proof?

In your legal documents there should be a field specifying race. Are you listed as chinese?

Best time to apply is generally after two years in Singapore.

Hi Lisafuller,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately no government issued documents in Indonesia list your race. There might be some document indicating name change (from Chinese name to Indonesian name) that my father went through, though I'm not sure if that document is still being kept in my household. I'll keep this in mind when applying, hopefully the SG government won't ask me to provide such document.

They definitely will if you list yourself as “Chinese” in the PR application. You can search through posts made by members of Thai/Vietnamese/Indonesian nationality with Chinese descent being asked by ICA to provide proof of Chinese ancestry.
Do yourself a favour first and ensure you got the document to prove your Chinese ancestry before you apply for PR. Less headache if you’re asked to provide for this document within X weeks & also prevent heartache if you get rejected for failing to give such a document.
If you can prove your Chinese ancestry, good chance after you’ve stayed here for 3 years. If not, you’ll be classified into “Others” category which has highest amount of applicants vying for the smallest quota.

Indonesian Chinese too here, applied PR in Sep 2020 and was approved June 2021. I wasn't asked to provide documents to prove my Chinese ancestry. My Indo Chi friends who applied weren't asked either. I think they'll only ask from those who come from country where the Chinese community are small or more assimilated with the locals such as Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines etc. Or maybe if you don't look too Chinese in your picture

As other members have mentioned, if you indicate your race as chinese in your application, there's a very high chance you'll be asked to provide proof. It's better to get ahead of all that and look for any documents that will help your case.

It's hard to know what the ICA is thinking, they may do this randomly as a sort of spot check, or they may have certain countries whose applicants they flag. Either way, it's best to be prepared.

Since nasigoreng's last post after his query is 2 years ago, most likely it might have been rejected. Usually people tend to update and share their approval here, if they have made a query. Ofcourse, some dont consider to update here.
Since you say your profile is very similar to nasigoreng, i presume your length of stay is less than 1yr too. Having a son is not always a positive but it doesnt hurt the chances either. If you are indonesian chinese then may be there can be some good chance of acceptance, but other things like length of stay, ancestry proof (if asked by ica), spouse not working and other negatives from your family profile which you have not listed here might affect your chances.
