Getting a Biotechology Job

Hi all,
I have a strong interest in becoming a laboratory technician or Biotechnologist. However, I do not have relevant background. Does anyone know what qualifications must I have in order to be eligible? Secondly, is there any junior positions involving Biotechnology that I can start off first? Thirdly, what are the job prospect for Biotechnology?
