Hello everyone.
I applied for a job but my work permit was rejected and I'm trying to think of a solution and why was I rejected.(I'm thai)
A little background info, I studied in sg since primary school. Both of my parents are sg citizen and pr. When I was in secondary school, I subscribed to starhub and gotten overcharged on my bills. I didn't make payment and it has been over 10+ years.
Next was, I gotten a missing person report filed against me when I was on my student pass when i was doing my degree. I don't know why my school did that. I was waiting for my results and my student pass was still valid.
Will these factors affect my work permit application and what can I do to rectify the issue? Please help. Thank you.

What is the job profile and is your salary low? It's also strange that you are not SC.

But if you're male, your primary reason for rejection is that you're not SC given that one of your parents is SC, and the other is SPR.

i am afraid you have failed your employer's background check.
this is a difficult position that may require you to engage a lawyer to clear your name.records with the police/government

in retrospect, you should have taken care of your problems to avoid these from coming back to haunt u in the future.

Alot of question in mind
1. parent is SG and PR but child is on student pass since primary school???
2. school file (private or national) file missing person report? You must be MIA for very long time that trigger the school
3. Secondary school, didn't pay Bill for 10+ yrs. should be low credit rating

Work Permit is for low-skilled workers with some country based eligibility. Are you sure you meant that kind of pass? If yes, I believe Thailand is not on the list.

I doubt any of these reasons are why your EP was rejected. It may be more to do with a salary too low or the job not being one that MOM want to give an EP for. Your prospective employer should appeal and try again.

I think she might well be a troll..... she hasn't responded to any of our replies/queries either.

Or maybe she lives in Ca now?

If they are indeed Canadian, it’s not the nationalities covered under work permit anyway..

Judging by the name it's a vps on a pretty well know ovh provider platform. It is a bit weird to post from a host like this so either it's completely innocent and legitimate or could be more sinister than an ordinary internet troll.

If I have to guess, she is legitimate and uses some vpn service provider that has their vpn hosts utilizing ovh structure. It's not unusual and not necessarily means anything bad.

PS. I am purposely posting it from Vancouver to confuse SMS whether this is me or Jenny hacked my account to make up this story in order to protect herself.

1. very much like my former boss' case of which I've made mention of several times over the years. He's an SGC, Wife is Polish PR. have son & daughter both now adults but when children, Dad got PR for Daughter and kept son on Student visa (Dad also a Card Carrying PAP member and thought he was smarter than the gahment. Long story short, both kids did their tertiary in the UK Son in Oxford study Civils, Daughter in Cambridge read law. Daughter came back after law school, did her 6 months with one of the best law firms in Singapore. Son came back, would only let him in on a SVP as his student pass long expired and over age of majority. I tried for a number of years to get him an employment pass to no avail. Gahment knew the boy had an SGC father so the jig was up. We opened up a subsidiary in Yangon and made him the MD there. he's been there for 6 or 7 years now and canbonly come back to SG two or three times a year. The gahment has their ways of finding out.

2. another oddity, If the parents are here I would think that student visa or not, the parents should have been the ones to file a police report.

3. As the kid was a minor surely he had to have a cosigner to get the account as a postpaid account. I know because I had a war with Singtel over a similar situation with my own son (I ws listed as the cosigner but I didn't sign anything. In fact I wasn't ever aware of it (my wife showed them a copy! of my NRIC but I didn't agree to anything. Told Singtell after about a 5 year running battle that if they called my one more time or send me one more bill with his account tagged onto it I wouldn't be responding via phone or email but on social media. Never hear anything from them again but I cannot get an account with them either.. Don't much care.

Additionally her whole story sounds fishy as hell. I agree it's probably legit but I'm just trying to get a reply from the OP who is strangely quiet.

Where you are posting from is anybody's guess. Moderator's ISPs are not available to us for our current posts or from any specific post. Although a list is available for all isps posted from but not able to pin to the individual posts. Admin probably has that log access capability though.

I'm sorry. I didn't think people would actually reply to me. I was busy, writing emails and being sad. The company has quota for thai workers. So I applied in service industry and the salary was 2,200. As for the telecom, my parents had cleared that already. Yes. I was alway on student pass (for national school) and private (for degree). There was a misunderstanding from my school and the police filed against me after 2-3 days. The school asked me to cancel my student but I wanted to wait for my result. I didn't understand that I need to cancel the student pass immediately after my test coz during sec school, they let me hold on to it till the last day. But the officer that came, he told me it was a case closed. And my father went to the police station but they couldn't check coz we don't have the case number. The officer at the station also said that my name not in the system might mean the case was closed. Do I need a lawyer to delete my record? And I did small part time job in sg when I was a student, tho I stopped after I knew private school students can't work.
If I want to apply for WP, would it affect my application again?
