PR Application if I lose EP/ resign.

Due to health/personal reasons, I'm considering resigning in order to take a break temporarily (maybe up to a year). I applied for PR around Oct 18 (so been about 6 months). I wonder how this would impact my PR application (my second time applying), and what options I have.
If I decide to resign and return home temporarily, would my PR application be voided? I see some posts such as this viewtopic.php?t=144472.
I'm wondering what options, aside from soldiering on at work, do I have where I can maybe wait to hear back from my PR application?
Profile: Working in Tech. Chinese descent. 8k Salary on EP. Been here 7+ years, and went to uni here.
