Low because you’re single. I knew a PRC single female who is a RF that applied twice, both times rejected. Get married and have baby, then chances go up.

I think the chance is low as RF is often considered a temporary period/job in academia. It is unstable and contract-based and many leave the position after 2-3 years. Getting a professorship or finding a full-time job in the industry would help.

Did you get your pr during RF?

It’s a contradictory. It’s very hard to get a faculty or industry position if you are not PR, especially for CEE professions.

Not true that you cannot get PR as a RF. The only single RFs I know who got PRs are M’sian Chinese, they got it around 2018 period. It is well known that M’sian Chinese have easier time with PR & citizenship as long they are employed and don’t have criminal record.

My colleague was ex-PRC along with her husband and daughter. She and her family got PR while she was a Research Associate (one level below RF) in the late 2000s and whole family converted to citizenship a couple of years later.

Agree. Married with kids is the best and easiest way. Of course, not condoning marriages of convenience as those are a lose-lose for everybody.

My pr got approved after I moved to the industry. FYI, I have a local PhD degree.

No doubt that you are educated and capable of making major contributions to SG. You may get approved, you may not. If you don't, you know what you need to do to improve your odds.
