Wonder if the yanks on this forum have heard of or care about Dean Phillips, running as US democratic presidential candidate?

Seems like a really smart, gutsy and positive guy. I'm totally impressed with his opinions on all the major issues. Would probably be great for the country.

Sadly, it’s either Biden or Trump in 2024.

We need a third party candidate.

Is there anyone else? 🤦

Surely there are better candidates in their respective parties?

He's nothing to write home about.

I don't see a problem with him changing his mind on an issue like DEI after finding out more about it. That's what rational people do. He's actually got better ideas how to deal with diversity and racial issues. Politico is out to get him btw.

Why do you say this? Biden has provided a steady guiding hand throughout tumultuous times. He has done this in spite of concerted efforts on the part of republicans to thwart his every move. He's passed an infrastructure rebuilding program. He's dealt with Ukraine and the Russian invasion in a steadfast and non alarmist way, and one that has not brought US troops into the war. The economy has held up without entering the predicted recession under his watch. And while I am very critical of the manner in which Israel has destroyed Gaza, this single issue alone is not enough to disqualify Biden from re-election.

So... what's wrong with Biden?

Trump, OTOH, is a proven f*cking criminal, a traitor, a seditious bastard who orchestrated the Jan 6 insurrection and continues his lies of a stolen election. He's a proven liar, a proven thief, corrupt through and through. He's incapable of leading; he wants to be dictator, he's already said that a president is immune from all prosecution, and his election will be a serious threat to our democracy.

How can he even be compared in the same sentence?

Glad we agree the Trump's an ahole, but sadly he's way ahead of Biden in the polls. The Dems need to get their act together and get a better candidate. Biden is 81 now

I highly recommend reading Phillips' platform: https://www.dean24.com/platform

I don’t do hyperbole. Both sides claim each candidate is dangerous and a threat to America. Both are patently false. The power entrusted to office of the president was intentionally limited to ensure American democracy will endure. Anything to the contrary is just blowing hot air.

I’m not a fan of Trump and never voted for him, despite being a staunch conservative. Someone like Tim Scott is who I’d like to see president.

Certainly intelligent, but no chance he wins.

The candidates may be better, but they don't have enough swing. Unfortunate but it's the reality.

I actually think being able to change your opinion publicly in light of new information is a sign of open mindedness, intelligence, and humility. Always respect it.

She seems to lack depth and authenticity.
