Hi all,

I submitted my PR application last week, but this week I received a request from my boss in my China-based parent company. He would like me to be based in China as much as possible to better communicate with domestic colleagues. He promised me that I can keep my EP, employment relationship with SG company, and the salary.

My question is, if I continue to receive my salary in Singapore, will ICA be very concerned about the length of my overseas business trips? For example, in the past year, I have spent half a year in the US and mainland China for business trips. This year, I estimate that I will need to spend at least half a year overseas.

Personally, if I need to go on business trips to mainland China for a long time, how long is it more appropriate not to affect my PR application? I will communicate my case with my boss carefully and try my best to minimize the impact on my PR application.

The answers are just my opinion. From what i know, It is not written anywhere as black and white to quote here.

1) if I continue to receive my salary in Singapore, will ICA be very concerned about the length of my overseas business trips?
Ans: There is quite high chance they will be concerned, given the fact that they know your travel movements precisely. But will this be concerned enough to reject your pr, it depends on your other positive things in your profile.

2) Personally, if I need to go on business trips to mainland China for a long time, how long is it more appropriate not to affect my PR application?
Ans: In my opinion, business trips more than 3 months per year would look bad, as already you are not in sg for quarter of a year. However, will this cause the pr to reject? Again, this depends on a combination of other factors of your profile and job description. 6 months overseas per year looks a bit unacceptable, but may be ok in certain job fields. But all that matters is how ICA sees it. Less than 2 months of overseas business trips looks acceptable and quite common.
