I am a main applicant / sponsor for our family SPR and we are currently located overseas. Our children will soon turn 13 years and will continue staying and studying overseas.

Plan is to have our children to do their national service overseas instead of Singapore.
Singapore government requires a security bond of SGD 75000 for all male PR´s aged 13 and above
if they stay in overseas 2 years or longer after turning 13 years to ensure that national service liable males who reside overseas will return to Singapore to fulfil their national service responsibilities

Thus my question is that does anyone know is it possible to renounce / cancel our children PR´s
while me and my wife maintaining our PR status?

Why does she want to retain PR?

Nope, my wife is also in residing in overseas. That could be an option as well to renounce her PR as well, might make the case easier? The key here is for me to maintain my PR

It is clear that a dependant cannot keep the status if the main applicant renounces, but the converse is not addressed. You can try but most likely the choice is renounce for all or keep for all (think about it from their perspective).

The following page on ICA's website seems to have been updated. Of note:
-there is no counter service to renounce any longer.
-the page says applications (to renounce) may be rejected.
-there is now a MINDEF Acknowledgement Form for all NS liable male PRs (2nd gen dependant, foreign students scheme). This form does not delineate between someone that younger than 13 years old and 13 to 16.5 years old; all are required to sign (CPMB's website still mentions 13 years old as the age one becomes liable).

Even if you can renounce all of the others and keep your PR, I'm not sure how many REP you can keep renewing, especially if you are not here.

These are the likes of the cases which ica is quite annoyed about and dislikes (at least unofficially). This is pure selfishness and does not show a good morale because you use all the benefits of PR and now just want to make your children to escape NS but you wanted to still maintain your PR for your own benefits. You dont know how difficult it is to get PR as you might have got it easily in the past (when approvals were easy) and how many are struggling hard to get it, despite they really want to stay here for their life unlike you. It is the cases like these that makes the locals become xenophobic and this directly affects some new pr applicants who really have intention to spread roots here.

Had you said that you were indian then some mods here would have commented "you burnt your bridges", "you abuse the system", etc etc, but since you are from europe i think it should be fine for them.

May be you can ask ICA if it is possible to keep your pr and renounce the kids' pr.

This. A PR with no local family ties and not residing in SG can probably say byebye to REP.

Sounds bleak, but it’s no chope.

In a word, NO, if they are over 13. If any other member of the family retains their PR then the answer is NO. If all give up PR. Slim Chance. Can only try AFTER all other family member's give theirs up. But it is still not a guarantee.

Our boys are still under 13y so I hope that will make things easier at this point

Please go back and read what I wrote. This time read all of it. Carefully. Particularly the 2nd sentence.

The basic lesson in all this — keep your male children on a DP / LTVP / student pass unless you are committed to having them do national service.
