Been told by a friend that he's heard of other people using this team of fengshui master, reading your birth date, calculating your past incidents and how you can do better in your work life etc. And they'll sell you ornaments and necklaces at a hefty price..by the thousands. And there were testimonials by some of the other friends and online google reviews that it really worked.
What are your thoughts on such FS businesses?

A lot of FS masters work on fear. After listening to their analysis, most clients will just follow their instructions to buy the FS products to enhance FS of their home or office.
You will never know if what they said is true or just created to instill fear on the negative FS. Always believe in yourself instead of relying on FS to improve your well-being. Beware, don't be scammed!

Half believe and half dont believe, Dont believe in buying anything beads or whatever. How is that supposed to help ? But not placing bed in direct flow of aircon air has practical reasons. If the aircon is not serviced, when turned on all the dust will be blown at the direction of the bed and anybody sleeping there will inhale the dirty dust . May get sick .

Indeed... the placebo effect. Then again, the same thing can be said about psychics.

Agree. These things are self fulfilling because we tend to have unconscious confirmation bias.

Legitimacy aside I have noticed that some elements of Feng Shui do result in a cleaner, more pleasant looking space. Bed placement according to Feng Shui principles, for example, tends to be the most practical, pleasing placement.

I just feel now that the fengshui master that told me everything is BS. Especially with time, I find everything he told me to do was the total opposite. He said my old house had bad fengshui, which now I feel it's the total opposite, so he just had to say something negative to make it feel his job feel very real.

Feng Shui practices, including those involving personal consultations and the sale of related ornaments or jewelry, can be intriguing and potentially valuable to those who believe in its principles. However, it's important to approach such services with a critical eye. The effectiveness of Feng Shui and similar practices often varies from person to person, and there's limited scientific evidence supporting their impact on work life or personal success. Testimonials and positive reviews might reflect personal satisfaction or belief rather than objective results. If you're considering investing in such services, ensure you thoroughly research the providers, read reviews critically, and consider if the cost aligns with your budget and personal beliefs.

It's group think combined with the power of suggestion.
1. If others observe you doing it, and believe, then they will possibly engage with you more.
2. If others believe and see a negative sign, that an cause a negative outcome for them (i.e. similar to the aboriginal practice of "pointing the bone" to condemn people to death just group condemnation- :The phenomenon is recognised as psychosomatic in that death is caused by an emotional response—often fear—to some suggested outside force and is known as "voodoo death").
