That's high at 79%, blame it on the banks, wealth management, family offices and lax company incorporations in Singapore. People just work with one eye closed.

While it is certainly on the increase, money laundering has been going in our little slice of paradise since forever. If you put aside the blatant ones involving GCBs and strange nationalities, there are lots of smaller operations that are highly suspect. I for one am deeply suspicious of the lighting shops that have lined one side of Balestier Road for decades. The lamps/lighting systems they sell are ridiculously expensive and they never seem to have any customers. There are lots of furniture shops around that appear to have a customer base that's as bad as the furniture they sell and yet they've been around for years. A more recent example is the very strange hybrid furniture/wine seller/cafe that occupies most of the second floor of Scotts Square. They never have any customers and I have no idea how they can afford to pay the rental.

Precisely, some shops are just a front for them to stay in Singapore supposedly with a business and employing local staff?

I would think these shops are just making losses every month. They wouldn't even be bothered with profits.

Well... when you look at it, you'll see that even Singapore banks don't want too look to closely at their customer profiles for fear of turning up corrupt Indonesian generals, corrupt Malaysian government officials, and corrupt Chinese businessmen. Singapore is a very safe place for ill gotten gains.

Read an article online about their extravagant lifestyle. Wants to watch movies in the middle night, play golf during odd hours of the day. Forks that cost $200 and salad bowls that are $2,000 a piece. And travel all over the world. Many of their counterparts have fled though. Good riddance to all of them.
