PR Chance

Hi all,I would like to get some thoughts on my PR chance to maybe ease my concerns
PR Application Date: Dec2023
PR Status: Pending
Profile
Nationality: Malaysian
Race: Chinese
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Degree: Masters (in relations to Psychology), Graduated in the UK
In SG: Since Nov2021
Salary: 42k+
Occupation: Admin Related (Not related to Psychology)
Currently holding Epass.
What are my chances based on the above? Although I do read around that Malaysian Chinese generally have a better chance but I do know someone who just got rejected after 8months. Plus, I know there's nothing to shout about in regards to my salary and work background. I'm just getting anxious cause I'm currently in the process of switching jobs with a rough 15% increment. Nothing in finalised yet with my new employer. I just wish I get my PR before they go through the whole process with the work pass

Not really. Friend that recently got rejected was of a higher salary grade than mine. Chinese Malaysian as well. Engineer. Definitely worked longer in SG than me as well.

What works against you:
- Marital status (I assume you’re single, SG prefers married couples to give birth to the next generation)
- Age (not recommended to have kids after 35)
- Salary a little low
- Occupation not really in demand

Every case is different. Age and perhaps marital status can make a difference. Level of education as well.
You do have a much higher chance than folks from any other ethnic group. Still a reasonable chance - what could drag you down is salary.
You didn't mention your marital status. I presume single, in which case that might drag you down slightly as well.

Yea, not married still. I suppose age do make a huge difference, an ex-colleague in her mid twenties got her PR within 4-5months last year, Chinese Malaysian holding a Spass (I think). The one that got rejected is older than me and single. I guess I just gotta pray and wait for the news.

i have a friend who is same age as you and from same race but from finance sector and a divorcee got her PR after 4months of application. I think compare to other race you still got high chance. I believe race place a big factor in PR application.

In addition to what's been said, I will say that it's only been 7 to 8 months since you applied. This is very much on the short end of the spectrum of waiting times. There's no cause for concern yet.

Age is highly influential. The younger you are, the more potential you have to contribute to the country. That said, 34 is by no means old. Although that's coming from me.

I supposed so. I'm getting angsty cause I need to wait for my new employer to go through the work pass application. A lil concern that I will lose my EPass, tho they've checked with the tool and said I should not have any issues but you'll never know with MOM. I am also looking to move to a new place but holding back for now due to the job transition. Once things have settled down only will I move forward with that. Getting the PR now would really smooth things out for me.

But yea, I understand the age thing. 34years old wouldn't be viewed as that 'fertile' anymore lol. but thanks for your view.

Age 35 is when Singapore gives up on her own citizen’s prospects of getting married and lets them buy a BTO. Medically speaking, after age 35 is when the risk of pregnancy-related complications like C-sections and chromosomal abnormalities starts increasing substantially.
That said, you never know what can cause a rejection. Sometimes people with the same profile might have other factors you were unaware of. Sometimes it can simply be that too many like you are applying at the same time as you. No matter the reason, you’re still likely get it eventually if you don’t get it this time.

Not sure if you're still waiting on your application but just dropping in to share a vote of confidence. My sister and I (we're both Malaysian Chinese single females in our early 30's), got ours approved in July 2024 after 8 months of waiting. I also think that EP/work pass nearing expiry might accelerate the approval. That's what happened to my case anyway.

Unfortunately, I am still waiting. 1 more week to hit 8months. My workpass just got renewed last year. I'm currently in the midst of switching jobs but the new compass process is taking ages.
. Still stuck at the agency verifying my education cert. Its been more than a month. A pr now would be godsend.
