Hello, everyone. I'm an Indian citizen applying for Singapore Permanent Residency (PR), and I would like to know my chances of approval.

Here is my profile:

Age: 30 years old
Status: Single
Qualifications: Dual Master's degrees in Computer Science, specializing in Robotics and AI, from two top universities in Europe
Employment: Staff Machine Learning Engineer at a major tech firm, working in Machine Learning and AI
Salary: Basic gross salary of SGD 11,000; total gross salary of SGD 17,000
Duration in Singapore: 4 years as of today
Ethnicity: Indian

I would appreciate any feedback or advice regarding my chances of obtaining Singapore PR. Thank you!

Do you speak Tamil? That can actually help your application. Being single appears to be the only major thing that hurts you. The bigger question is, how many other Indians are you competing with for that PR slot, how does their profile stack up to yours and how many slots are available at the moment?

The assumption is that it will signal the ability to integrate better with the majority of born and raised Singaporean Indians who's mother tongue is Tamil.

Well that's the reasoning. I personally don't think it will tip the scales much - I know of a lot of Tamils from India who failed in their PR applications. A few that were successful, but thereafter failed in their SC application (gahmen had second thoughts on the person?). And I have also seen some who do not really integrate (my opinion) despite being tamil speakers - the gahmen probably observes that too. That's why a Malaysian Indian speaking tamil is more likely to be successful than one from India - integration in the community is the key.

Agree, speaking Tamil is not a must, but it seems to be an integration element. And it makes sense considering the priority placed on mother tongue education in schools.

One Indian friend of mine was fluent in Tamil but his Indian wife was not… he switched his kids from international to local school, and switched them from Hindi to Tamil — this same person received an invitation for his whole family to apply for citizenship, and they eventually accepted. I’m very sure Tamil wasn’t the driving factor, but I think it helped.
