Dear community,

I wish to ask an question, how much will work or study related activites be affected by defaulting ns, but returning early to finish?

Is it impossible to get back into Singapore life of work and studying?

I almost responded to this post before, but didn’t quite know what to make of it.

My first thought was: maybe this is a question about how much time could be freed up for work/study by defaulting on NS… for example, how many years ahead could one be if they did this.

My second thought was: maybe this is a question about the grueling work/study lifestyle that often plagues people in Singapore, and whether it was worth doing NS just to be subject to that.

My third thought was: maybe this is a question about deferring NS rather than defaulting, based on overseas education timing, and how that could affect things.

My final thought was: maybe this question is asking how they will be treated in terms of access to work/study opportunities in Singapore if they defaulted on NS (or maybe even if they came back and tried to redeem themselves).

I’m still puzzling over what the real question was, but I guess now the OP wants to leave the forum, so it shall remain a mystery.

If you are able to timely serve your NS duties with minimal offenses accrued to date, then it should have little to no impact on your future in Singapore.

Doing NS is almost a rite of passage for male Singaporeans. I admire your dedication to the cause and thank you in advance for your service to the nation.

Jail time depends on your age and how long you have scoot off.
Here is the kicker, if they decided that you will go to jail, you will have additional number on your IC
