Hey people
We are a young couple travelling to Phuket for the first time over the May 1st weekend...Anybody been there recently i.e. after the Tsunami? While Im glad to be doing my bit in building the economy, Im hoping there wouldnt be too many reminders of the Tsunami.... (pls dont mistake this!!)..any info on that?

Also, any suggestions on what are the things we can do (besides the beaches, of course), any specific tours recommended, 'good' massage places, any good vegetarian food recommendations??

Thanks & Cheers!! :D

Was in Phuket a couple weeks ago. For the most part, there was no real sign of the tsunami. Things had been re-built, beaches were clean, etc. As for what to do (other than beaches) -- the city itself is going strong, shopping, restaurants... Go have fun.

Just got back a couple of days ago. Really surprised at the speed of reconstruction. Tourist numbers have dropped quite a bit but there are still plenty of people and lots to do.

It's coming to the monsoon season, however, if you are in to diving, it's a good time to see whale sharks. Water is surprisingly clean.

Go, relax and enjoy!!
