Singapore Expats

I will be relocating to Singapore from Sydney within 4 months and was wondering if anyone could give a rough guess-timate on the cost of relocation for a family of four (including two < 5 kids).

I know ths will be different for everybody, depending on how much furniture, etc, etc. I was just after some ball park figures.

From Europe to Singapore SGD 10,000 for a 3 bed room light furnished.
Total 84 boxes and some chairs, bed, tables etc.

Packed, transported and unpacked incl. insurance.

Used first class mover - you better do the same.

I used Kent from Sydney to Singapore cost $5000 Aus for 2 bedroom house. Had a quote from Nuss ended up being about $1500 more. My furniture will be delivered next week but the way they packed it I'm sure it will be fine...

We just had a 20ft container sent from Brisbane to Sing that cost about S$7,000. 7K may sound expensive but nothing was broken. You can get most things in for lightly furnished 3 bedroom place in a 20ft container. Its better to have the full 20ft container which is 33cum allocated to yourself rather than getting your stuff stuffed into the end of someone elses container, thats what forwarding agents do. The difference is if if you use a relocation service like we did, they offer a door to door service. Some companies have agents in the destination location and that is OK as a second choise but some are just forwarding agents and thats where it can get a little rough,but cheap. Guess you need to decide if you are going to ship your prize possesions or not, If you are I suggest you pay a little extra and go for the relocation company who has there own office at each end. I dont like to recommend names of companies in these forums but the above should give you some idea of what to look out for.

Hi I just moved (3 weeks) ago from Canberra to Singapore. A 40" container (3 br) with stuff for family of 4 (2 kids <5 years) costed about AUD 12,000 plus some costs for storage in Singapore of goods while we find accomodation. I have used Allied Pickfords and sevice was good in Australia. Yet to know how the goods have travelled !!

Have you considered shipping a car when you relocate to Singapore ? It's a lot cheaper than buying one here. And this is the only chance you get to ship a car in with some tax breaks.
