I am planning to move to Singapore end of this year on an expat package from my company. Where is the best place to reside? I heard Orchard Road's the best followed by the Holland area, can anyone tell me the BIG difference between this 2 areas?

Thanks..

Depends on family situation?

Do you have a family?

Are you bothered by noise of traffic and prefer greenery to concrete?

Are you young, single and want to live in walking distance to nightclubs?

It all depends on your wishes and budget, really. In addition to the above mentioned, you have the Clarke Quay area - very popular among 20-somethings...

I am single, I prefer more greenery if given a choice. My budget is round about Sing$2,000, only need a room or so. Clarke Quay is the place with many eating places right?? What choices do I have there?

Hi. If I were you, I wouldn't get too hung up on the 'Orchard Road' thing. Firstly, I think most of the clubs and young nightlife is more likely to be around Jalan Sultan, Holland Village, Boat Quay/Clarke Quay and probably others (I'm too old nowadays :? ) Second, provided you're near MRT or somewhere to get taxis, Singapore is small enough that you could move a little further out and thereby get a better place for the same $$$s and still be able to get anywhere in 20/30mins. Maybe somewhere along River Valley road ... kindof middle ground between Orchard and the above locations, and should be lots of places available.
Good luck.
