Hi We are looking at renting an apartment in the Waterside (East Coast) close to Costa Rhu. I am seeking views from tenants that have lived or are living in Waterside or thereabouts. Also my office is in Raffles City Tower. Is Waterside convinient to travel to city? Also travel to shopping areas please? Is it noisy?

Appreciate your views.

Many Thanks,

JS

Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. Its simulateneously close to the city, but far away.

I live at the Waterplace - which has a really great pool - BUT

There is but one way in and out, this grates after a while
One public bus on Tanjong Rhu - though the 608 leaves from the stadium as well. )say 10-15 min walk from Costa Rhu.
No MRT (at least till 2007)
A few expensive restaurants nearby
There is a shuttle from Costa Rhu to the city
Also a bus from Waterplace which helps.
If you have a car this would help of course.

Apartments on the ECP side suffer noise. Inside facing apartments , or on the River Side (eg Pebble Bay) are pretty good.

There are no real shopping centres, though Costa Rhu & Pebble Bay both have mini marts and hair dressers. There is an HDB food court at Jalan Batu, about 15 minutes walk away and a bunch of restaurants on mountbatten - but by then you might as well take a cab and go to wherever you like.

On the plus side, most people seem to be pretty friendly. Big contingent of expats in most complexes, quite a few families.

Cycling up the east coast is nice via the park.

Cool breeze in the evenings is also good.

Hope that helps

Thank You Mrdodge.

Appreciate your feedback. Is Meyer Road area better served (transport wise) and also closer to shops/resturants. I am not planning to get a car for the next year or so hence the question...places like Hawii Towers etc..

Thanks,

JS

I think if you own a car east coast would be fine. It'll only be 15 mins to the city. In singapore it's less than 10 mins drive to the nearest eatery or shopping centers anywhere.

We love waterside. Great facilities and great view!! You can easily walk to Mountbatten and take bus 14 to Orchard and many more, even though there is only one bus line on Tanjong Rhu itself. To go to work, just book "Bus Plus" (which has the last pick up at waterside stop so you MUST book a seat, otherwise, you may risk missing your bus as there's no standing allowed) monthly and you get to sit till your stop either to Suntec or Raffles place.

We didn't had car for 18 months and it was no problem. Once we got a car, it's even a breeze.

Hope this help.
