Hi,

Do you know any good web-page where is listed what are the big events in Singapore?

When is the Olympic commitee meeting?
When is the national day?
Is there special events in Sentosa?
When is the Great Singaporean Sale?
Concerts?
Sports events?

All this kind of information. In advance.
I did subscripbe to a newspaper before, but all I got
what was happening for the day.

Btw. Is there going to be something intresting during next week?

The G Sing Sale is still on till mid July, I think, you can goggle this. I was in Sing just 2 weeks back and bought a nice handbag from CK Tang (30% off) and a very nice top from Esprit. Also a nice (and I mean nice!) pair of flat strappy walking shoes for S$30 *although this was only 10% off.

I love Singapore, you all know this, but it's expensive. My suggestion to all you shoppers is.....go to JB, or KL. They shoes especially are stupid cheap prices for leather. And what's more when you get back home to UK, or Sing or wherever, there are the same damn shoes, only costing three, four or more times more.
It isn't for nothing Singaporeans go to Carrefour or wherever in JB to shop for normal groceries either......do folks still do this? When I was there lots of people did it.
Also furniture....where is that place up in Malaysia, not far, that does the cherrywood stuff or the teak? It's half the price of the same items say in Tangs or shops in town.
I bought a great bag up in KL last time I was there....cost about £100 here in UK, and there was £20.....shoes for about 20 or 30 rinngit cost about £40 or £50 here. Stupid not to, isn't it? Well, that's what I told hubby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I was also in KL but only did window shopping as we were low on our funds and my other half kept reminding me that we won't be able to afford a return ticket back to Sing! I found KL stuff to be rather limited compared to Sing but again I wasn't seriously looking. When I was there Tangs KL was closed and was told it was closed for good.

Well, shopping in UK, you have to be carrying gold bars around with the almighty Pound and Euro (compared to our Pacific Pesos err Aussie). It was a case of walk-in walk-out for me.

Your information was something I was looking for.
The web page gave quite a boring selection of things
to do, but it was a good start.

GSS was just an example what is going on. That's
a good thing to know even when I thing that money
and shopping are the two most boring things in the
world.. both are needed but only to certain level.

Great Singapore Sale sucks.
There's nothing interesiting to buy. All the good items are kept inside the warehouse during this season, and only garbages are displayed in a showcase.
The price is not so cheap since they increase the original price.
Don't be fooled by the propaganda.

www.visitsingapore.com for all the big events, as this is the official uniquely Singapore site of Singapore Tourism Board, and they are involved in all big events going on.

Or, you could make friends with the locals and they'll show you a side of Singapore alot of expats aren't privy to.
Like late nights at Simpang Bedok and the like. Milo Dinosaur and stuff like that.
