Want to apply for PR

Hi,
I just came before 20 days to singapore. want to know what is the best time to apply for PR and what are the eligibility criterias for that. I am on EP.

Umm... applying for PR after 20 days? no logic unless exceptionally outstanding person.
I was on Q1 ep, did apply after 20 months in Singapore, they rejected. Ultimately after 40 months my PR was approved, but by them I have migrated to another country... Just sharing my story, but dont get discouraged. Go ahead there is no min time limit to apply for PR.

mayur_rajvaidya, after having enquired with fellow collegues who got PR, all i wanted to pass is 6 month time, then apply for PR. i came here last month and hold masters from iit kanpur.

mind that to apply for PR, you need a letter from current employer

I suggest you to wait for 6 -7 months and then apply for a PR.
Decision on PR depends on the following
Salary of an Applicant
Position of an applicant.
Qualification of applicant
Experience
The chances of getting PR is high if you are married and have kids
Make sure you are submitting the required documents in one shot.

Though there's no way on earth i'm getting married just for PR!

Guys,
Here's what I found in the FAQ section of ICA website:
Do I need an employer's sponsorship to apply for SPR?
No, it is not a prerequisite.
There is a form called Annex A where some information about your employer is required. The form clearly states that this is not sponsorship. So, any employer should be willing to sign that form.
My guess is that if you are not employed, then you do not need to fill Annex A., as in the case of an LPR application where you will be judged against your abilities, education and potential.

Guest, I'm 2002 EE batch, any links? I've been in bangalore for last 3 years, before coming here i was working for nvidia graphics.

Blaze, employer certainly have concerns, since they have to contribute mandatorily to CPF once one gets their PR. their contribution is pegged at 5% of base salary for first year, 9 % for second year and 16% for rest. hence they must be willing to sponser PR as well. Please read through CPF details available on their govt. website. If you are on employment pass, they need not have to worry abput CPF contributions.

Looks like competing forces! Being a PR means less immigration headache for the employer. Being on EP means lower cost.
I was the guest above. I passed out of iitk in Chem in 1991. There was a Harsha in Math, so I was curious.
Good luck with the PR application. Just follow the requirements to the letter and you should have no problems. In theory!
