Can anyone advise me as to whether I need to apply for an international driving permit to drive in Singapore. I have a British driving licence.

Pretty well worthless. Your UK license will be just fine. If you are staying for more than 12 months you will need to convert before the end of 12 months, otherwise, your license will serve you.

A conversion is strongly recommended, btw, if you're going to be here longer than 12 months. It's straight-forward (a theory test may apply, but apart from some points that need to be memorised, such as how far from a fire hydrant, bus stop, and traffic light you may park, in metres, what the bus lane hours are, and how deep your tire tread needs to be(!), the test is trivial... even funny... one of the questions in mine was:
"What do you do if you drive through a puddle and water gets into your brakes?"
a) Pump the brakes to dry them
b) Nothing. Drive normally so the wheels can spin-dry
c) Find the nearest hill and climb it so the water can drain out
(Serious!)

Hi,
according to the regulation here, you are to convert to local licence if you are here more than 12 months in order to drive in Singapore. Details can be found at

Thanks
