Singapore Expats

Hello,
I am a Scotsman moving to Singapore in about a month and would like my Russian fiance to come with me. My company will not issue a LOI or help with her visa as we are not married (HR policy again...).
The company say "get married", I say "not yet".

One option is a long stay visitor visa with a letter from a Singapore resident and then perhaps a student visa - is this possible?
Does anybody have any advice to offer???

I have already checked the immigration website and it is a little confusing.

I heard about a similar case. The lady was from Poland, but I guess it doesn't make a big difference.

Yes the easiest way (in terms of immigration!) is to get married. But they also said "not yet".

In her case she got a long term social visit pass, with the help of the boyfriend's company. So it's possible.

The situation doesn't look good - possibly you could get a stat dec saying that you have been a couple for x period etc . . . (I dd hear that certain nationalities are being treated stricter and Russians, especially females, are in this category)

CD is correct - all the government departments in Singapore are very helpful and surprisingly efficient - nice change from back home where they're pretty much a waste of space and a lesson in obfuscation.

Feeling goooood -the sun is shining, birds are chirping and the world is a pretty ok place. Now, the highlight would be if my headhunter phones me and tells me I got the job I was interviewed for last week and that they will accept my staying here instead of HK or Sydney.

Then even the flowers will be fragrant.
