Singapore Expats

I am moving to singapore with my wife and son in september. We plan to have a baby in the next year or so.

Do you know if 3,000 SGD are sufficient for 2,5 condo in a nice area.

Any picture of what we could get for this would be appreciated.

Is there a location where most expat live (french or british) ?

I am also an Expat moved 10 months ago, for a good condo and area you need to move to $2800 per month, (but view the one for $2,500) yet get a lot more room, although you have to add on the extra's. Air con Maintenace $880 per year. plus electricty $140 per month, plus cable and broadband $60 per month.

My husband and I are near a Road called Bukit Timah Road the area is between Newton Circus, near the French school. Or you can travel further west towards the British Club. other Areas are Holland Villiage.

Taxis are resaonable, unless you get a transport/car allowance.

There is a nice condo that is within walking distance to the French School. It is called Kensington Park Condo, and you can certainly get a reasonably big condo (say 1800 sq ft, 3 bedroom) within your budget.
For that budget you can also consider a house with a garden in the residential area (called Serangoon Garden Estate) which is just next to the French School. Shopping is convenient in this estate, and there are some French and Australian families living there (the Australian School is also nearby).

what about water ?is that normally included in the rent?

Hi Jag,

You need to pay utilitiy bills like water, electricity, gas, internet, telephone.

What is council tax?
