African Americans in Singapore?

Is there a huge population of African Americans in Singapore? My friend is from America and he is thinking of relocating to Singapore for a while to be a Service Engineer. Will be be penalized in an Asian community where he stands out from the majority?
Please advise.

Umm, huge? Define huge. Large? No. Most Africans are Africans (without the American bit in front)
Umm, penalised? How so? Stand out? Depends on his height, I guess.

I don't see too many African Americans in Singers, but that shouldn't stop one from relocating. I think it would be really nice to see some more of them, they have so much flair.
And Vaucluse, no smartass comments from you or else...

How can I tell the difference between an Africian American and an Africian?If I don't speak to them, honestly how doe one tell them apart? We know a family, she is from the Congo, she is very black, husband is Norwegian, white. The children are adorable and super smart...reading at 2.
To answer the OP question, yes there are African American, but whether they are from Africia or America can't say. Good luck.
Would they stand out? Yes, but so do I most of the time! I'm Caucasion American!
Does size really matter? Get your minds out of the gutter!

The impression I got from OP's question is whether there are any Black Americans aka African Americans these days and not specifically Africans.
Anyway unless things have changed drastically from the time I was there, I would say no to both (African Americans or Africans) as there aren't that many in Singapore.
However, I doubt very much that your friend will be penalised in Singapore for standing out from the majority as there are tons of foreigners in Singapore these days and S'poreans are used to this.

No, there isn't a huge population of African Americans in Singapore.
No, he will not be penalized in an Asian community.
And I seriously doubt that he will stand out from the majority.
Where to find other African Americans? Perhaps at jazz clubs such as Harry's at Boat Quay where ChromaZone plays
