i am a social drinker and have been known to get drunk and do your usual stupid drunken things. so.....

do people drink a lot in singapore? i mean when a bunch of single people or couples get together, does the host say, hey you guys want a beer or a glass of wine or something or do they say, can i offer you a coke? do workmates say, hey wanna go for happy hour?

is drunkness fined in singapore? it is reputed to be a super clean city, so i guess you do not find the drunken lush throwing up at 3 am, right?

are there any big drinking holidays in singapore like st.pattys day or memorial day weekend like the us? is drinking looked down upon? finally, are there the mandatory bunch of lushes at a bar who are just hitting on everything that moves?

There are many, many bars here - if you are looking to go out for drinks at any time, there are places that can accomodate. There is a group of young singles & marrieds with no kids at my husband's office that go out drinking all the time and I am sure this is very common in many offices. I don't know if they are throwing up in the streets or not (yuck!), but they do stay out until all hours on the weekends. You will find that people here like to go out and party just as much as you & your friends do in the US.

As far as 'hitting on everything that moves' - I am told if that is what you are after, there are places you can go and you don't have to work very hard (if at all) to get what you are after.....

I have been out on numerous occasions and have gotten myself complete intoxicated (pissed) everytime I have never had an ounce of trouble with the locals or the police.

BTW I even had some of SPF's finest help me up to my apartment one night after I fell asleep using the curb as a pillow
